My First Response!
I have actually recieved a response to one of the postcards I sent out to random addresses. I intend to use this for some influence for how I'm going to take this project further:

Postcard Mission
After the crit, I thought about alternative ways of
a) displaying the postcards
b) getting people to write on the postcard
And subsequently, a question to ask people.
And subsequently, a question to ask people.
I have been thinking of ways to get my postcards out to people in the public, to find out their opinions of what class they believe themselves to be in.
I decided to send postcards off to random addressed gained through the internet with a letter explaining the reason for this, and the postcards are addressed and stamped for easy return. Now we just have to wait and see!
Postcard addressed and stamped, ready to be sent back
Putting the packs together
I also left the postcards in places around Leeds for random individuals to take and send me their response....
Another place for someone to respond to a postcard
Next I wish to produce some more, and hand them out in different places.

I need to consider how to display these cards, and research further.

Between Kismet and Karma - Leeds Art Gallery
I went to see the new exhibition at Leeds Art Gallery yesterday. It features several female artists who have responded to the conflicts in their home countries, and has a wide range of mixed media responses. I really thought the below piece was the most impressionable for it's colour, sheer size and volume.
Crit - 22nd March 2010
For the crit on the 22nd March we have been asked to seriously consider an outcome, and how it may look in the exhibition, and therefore think about display, and curating.
I have decided to persue the postcard theme for the perusal of the crit, and therefore have framed up 3 postcards with possible stories attached on the back:

Business Card

I have now produced 100 business cards and I havn't wasted the opportunity to hand them out to people!
I have hopefully lined up a couple of opportunities to start taking portraits as part of my portfolio building. This is all down to me producing my cards, and having a website for people to view and research my work. I need to regularly update my site so it has up to date info.
Artists Book Fair
Every year there is an 'Artists Book Fair' at Leeds Univeristy, and a few courses from Leeds College of Art get students to create items to sell. This provides us with an opportunity to understand retail for our art, and also gets us to make some work, using different workshops etc.
I believe that little cheap things sell more than elaborate expensive books so I have chosen to produce some small postcards using my photography. These could go for 30p - 50p each, and will have my logo on the back with my website for people to research. Below is an image of some of the postcards:

New Brighton
Another day trip I went on was to New Brighton in Merseyside. I chose to come here because this is where Martin Parr produced his collection, 'The Last Resort'. I found the area to be deafeningly quiet, and was astounded by the amount of demolition, abandonment and rehabilitation this area has in the Winter months.
